EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), compliance programme for Poland’s largest retail chains

Client: industry association representing leading retail chains |
The situation
The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) imposed strict new due diligence obligations on operators and traders placing commodities such as coffee, cocoa, palm oil, soy, rubber and timber on the EU market. An industry association representing leading retail chains needed clarity on how to divide obligations between operators and suppliers, and how to implement compliance across the sector in practice.
Our role
We prepared a comprehensive report on the allocation of obligations between retailers and suppliers. We drafted compliance guidelines for the organisation’s members and delivered a training programme. We also produced a public report supporting the organisation’s advocacy with policymakers and opinion leaders.
The result
The organisation and its members received ready-to-use tools for implementing EUDR: a clear division of obligations, compliance guidelines and a trained team. This is an example of advice that goes beyond an individual matter, with real, sector-level impact.
Does EUDR affect your supply chain or trading operations? We can help assess the risk and implement compliance.

In this area, reacting when a problem arises is not enough. You need to act earlier.
