My investment is stuck due to NGO and local group opposition, how do I unblock the project and see it through?

Client: large industrial investor with foreign capital |
The situation
An industrial investment can get stuck not because it breaks the law, but because it lacks social acceptance, and no victory in administrative proceedings can substitute for actively managing relationships with those who have the real power to delay the project. The project is fully compliant with environmental regulations, but encountered massive and coordinated opposition from local communities and environmental organisations, driven predominantly by non-environmental and political agendas. The opposition aimed to delay or entirely block the investment despite its compliance with environmental standards.
Our role
We act as lead environmental counsel, developing a comprehensive strategy combining legal defence with stakeholder relationship management. In parallel, together with technical consultants we conducted legalization procedurę and prepared a full set of documents for issuing and environmental decision, including the EIA report. We conduct dialogue with local communities and administrative authorities, establishing transparent communication channels and addressing legitimate community concerns. In parallel, we provided representation in administrative and court proceedings.
The result
he case clearly illustrates a core principle of our approach: in industrial investments with a strong social dimension, winning the administrative proceedings alone is not enough, simultaneous management of all stakeholder relationships and building social legitimacy for the project is essential.
Is your investment facing community opposition despite regulatory compliance? Let’s talk.
Security of the investment process
Many investments are not stopped by regulations – they are stopped by public protests, the actions of environmental organisations, prolonged proceedings, and risks that were not properly managed. We advise investors at every stage of the investment process, from the first decision through to effective defence before the courts in any disputes that may arise.
