New EU product safety rules (GPSR), preparing a global manufacturer for new requirements

Client: global consumer goods manufacturer |
The situation
The EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) entered into force in December 2024, introducing significantly stricter requirements on labelling, transparency, traceability and online sales, with substantial penalties for non-compliance. The client, a large manufacturer operating on the EU market, needed a full review of its products and alignment with the new standards before the rules took effect.
Our role
We conducted a comprehensive review of the client’s labelling, consumer information and product safety documentation. We provided strategic guidance on supply chain responsibility, substantiation of product claims, and risk management measures to address enforcement and reputational exposure.
The result
The client entered the new regulatory regime with full documentation, clear internal processes and a ready risk management strategy. They avoided costly post-implementation corrections, which is particularly significant for companies with extensive product portfolios operating across multiple EU markets simultaneously.
